I got to thinking, what if Peter had rejected Egon in college? Because really, what points of intersection do the two actually have to base a friendship on? Egon the classic 'science nerd', and Peter the BMOC and athletic star, the only real overlap would be a shared interest in parapsychology. So with a tug here and a tuck there, here we have the world without our fearsome foursome. At least to start with.
